Yaadon Ki Manzil was a series of albums having selected songs from Hindi movies.
These are generally not the songs that made or stayed at number one on the charts in their times, but most of these have something very peculiar about them. One thing is for sure - each one of these is super melodious!
These are the songs I grew up with.

I'm putting together in these playlists whichever songs from the series I've been able to lay my hands on. Hope you like these!

Click on any song name that is shown in a box in order to play it now or later. All songs will be made playable soon.

Note for iPhone Users: In iOS versions lower than 16, on Chrome and Edge, and perhaps on Safari too, audio will stop after 30 seconds (or after the first song), if the app is moved to background. You may have to update your iOS to v16 or newer.

  • Aye Dil Kahaan Teri Manzil (Maya) 1961 Dwijen Mukherjee, Lata Mangeshkar & Chorus
  • Ye Mausam Rangeen Samaan (Modern Girl) 1961 Mukesh & Suman Kalyanpur
  • Zulfon Ki Ghata Lekar (Reshmi Roomal) 1961 Asha Bhosle & Manna Dey
  • Ga Deewane Jhoom Ke (Flat No.9) 1961 Mukesh
  • Ek But Banaoonga Tera Aur (Asli Naqli) 1962 Mohd. Rafi
  • Deewane Hum Deewane Tum (Bezuban) 1962 Lata Mangeshkar
  • Dil Ki Tamanna Thi Masti Mein (Gyara Hazar Ladkiyan) 1962 Mohd. Rafi
Very few pleasures in this world compare to the joy of rediscovering a song that you were fond of in your teenage days, after a gap of 20-25 years! This happened to me today. During the transition from cassettes to CDs and then to mp3's, I lost this song and completely forgot about it, though I liked it very much in the 90's. Today in 2020, I found it again! Thank you N. Dutta and Majrooh Sultanpuri / Kaifi Azmi for this enchanting composition.
As a bonus, I'm including the happy version!
Dil Ki Tamanna Thi Masti Mein (happy) - (Gyara Hazar Ladkiyan) 1962 Mohd. Rafi, Asha Bhosle
  • Tum Jo Aao To Pyaar Aa (Sakhi Robin) 1962 Suman Kalyanpur & Manna Dey
  • Meri Tasveer Lekar Kya Karoge Tum (Kala Samunder) 1962 Mohd. Rafi, Asha Bhosle, Balbir & Chorus
  • Khanke Kangna Bindiya Hanse (Dr. Vidya) 1962 Lata Mangeshkar
Now, this one has a very naughty and natural 'Aah' from Lata Mangeshkar at the end of the first stanza. You don't get to hear this from Lata often. But when you do, it's difficult not to keep taking the slider back again and again a thousand times!
  • Badli Badli Duniya Hai Meri (Sangeet Samrat Tansen) 1962 Lata Mangeshkar & Mahendra Kapoor
  • Tum Hi Tum Ho Mere Jeewan Mein (Ek Dil Sau Afsane) 1963 Lata Mangeshkar & Mohd.Rafi
  • Vo Jo Milte The Kabhi (Akeli Mat Jaiyo) 1963 Lata Mangeshkar
  • Phir Vo Bhooli Si Yaad Aayi Hai (Begana) 1963 Mohd. Rafi
  • Har aas ashk baar (Kinare Kinare) 1963 Lata Mangeshkar
  • Agar Main Poochhun Jawaab Doge (Shikari) 1963 Mohd. Rafi & Lata Mangeshkar
1963-65
  • Ui Ma Ui Ma Ye Kya Ho Gaya (Parasmani) 1963 Lata Mangeshkar & Chorus
  • Uthegi Tumhari Nazar Dheere Dheere (Ek Raaz) 1963 Lata Mangeshkar
  • Phir Tumhari Yaad Aayi (Rustom Sohrab) 1963 Mohd. Rafi, Manna Dey, Sadat Khan & Chorus
  • Subah Na Aai Shaam Na Aai (Cha Cha Cha) 1964 Mohd. Rafi
  • (Haqeeqat) 1964 Mohd. Rafi
  • Chand Takta Hai Idhar (Dooj Ka Chand)1964 Mohd. Rafi & Suman Kalyanpur
  • Jeevan Dor Tumhi Sang Bandhi (Sati Savitri)1964 Lata Mangeshkar
  • Ek Baat Poochti Hoon (Suhagan) 1964 Lata Mangeshkar
  • Sara Mora Kajra Chhudaya Tumne (Do Dil)1965 Mohd. Rafi & Aarti Mukherjee
  • Kisi ko pata na chale (Lootera) 1965 Lata Mangeshkar
  • Aap Ko Pyar Chhupane Ki Buri Adat (Neela Aakash) 1965 Mohd. Rafi & Asha Bhosle
  • Haye Re Tere Chanchal Nainwa - Lata
This song comes in two very interesting variants. The first one given above starts abruptly in the movie when Feroz Khan happily starts the transistor (radio) given to him by his elder brother. Aaha! The golden days - when a gifted radio could spark such a joy as is shown in the movie! Well, Feroz khan starts the radio and the song starts with some part of the beginning cut off. Makes sense, and this was the beauty of radio. You never knew what you were gonna get when you turned it on. Well, the song continues, and just whenever Lata comes back to the face of the song, Feroz Khan hums it with her - actually sung by Mahendra Kapoor. Mahendra Kapoor sings the face solo at the end of the song as well without any supporting music. Subhanallah!
For more than two decades, this was the version I listened to, always wondering how the song must have really started.
And then I got hold of the other version - the one without Mahendra Kapoor's voice, but having the proper start. Both formats are simply lovable! Kudos to the masters - each and every one of the artists behind this song. Both the versions are provided above.
May I ask you a question - if you were allowed to listen to only of these, which one would you choose? Answer in comments.

  • Humsafar Mere Humsafar Pankh Tum (Purnima) 1965 Mukesh & Lata Mangeshkar
