When God was drinking the finest, most velvety of His wines, in one of His sweetest-sounding goblets, He created Pankaj Udhas! And, then came the 80's when the boring or mostly soul-less Bollywood music was, to some extent, compensated with some other-worldly non-filmy ghazal music and lyrics - right when Pankaj Udhas was in his prime.
Pankaj Udhas, in 70's and 80's was a different singer from what he became later. I have no idea why he started singing with an overly sweet, no-throw voice in the 90's. Similar to what Kumar Sanu did around the end of 90's, and Arijit Singh is doing now.
But luckily, we live in the era when sound can be recorded and reproduced. So, let's be thankful to technology and listen to some of the gems from Pankaj Udhas from the 80's.
